MORRISON AND MCCORMACK NEED TO
TAKE ACTION ON ROAD SAFETY

After six years of inaction, the third term Morrison Government has been given a wake-up call on Road Safety.

New data released today by the Australian Automobile Association found Australia’s road toll is higher today than it was four years ago.

Eight years into the 10 year National Road Safety Strategy, the AAA analysis found only 9 of the 33 indicators will be met.

In addition, 8 of the indicators still cannot be measured including one of the two headline targets - reducing serious injuries by 30 percent.

It has been 10 months since the Morrison Government received the independent inquiry into the NRSS.

In March this year, Professor Woolley – an automotive safety expert, and Dr Crozier – a leading trauma surgeon, publicly released a video saying that they were “underwhelmed” with the Government’s lack of response to the inquiry’s findings.

Australians are demanding national action to reduce the road toll.

The Federal Government must urgently provide a formal response to the Woolley Crozier inquiry.

Minister McCormack and the Morrison Government must show national leadership and work with state and territory governments, law enforcement agencies, road safety experts and road users to deliver national action.

One death or injury on Australian roads is too many.
