SENATOR GLENN STERLE
SENATOR FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA
MALCOLM TURNBULL - ANOTHER DAY NOT IN WA
Labor Senator Glenn Sterle today launched AnotherDayNotInWA.com.au
It has been 170 days since Malcolm Turnbull was last in Western Australia. The people of WA should not be taken for granted.
Since becoming Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has spent more time in the United States than he has in Western Australia.
“Western Australians are sick of being taken for granted,” said Senator Sterle.
“Everybody knows the reason Turnbull isn’t visiting WA is because he is backtracking on GST action.”
“Malcolm Turnbull must come to WA before the Federal Budget and outline what he is going to do about Ellenbrook Rail, what he is going to do about the Byford rail line and what he is going to do about the GST.”
Labor Leader Bill Shorten has visited WA 20 times since Turnbull became Prime Minister, including two visits already this year.
He has outlined a clear vision for our state and announced a $1.6 billion Fair Share WA Fund, to bring WA’s GST share up to the equivalent of a 70 cent floor.
The fund will be used to create more than 16,000 jobs in Western Australia by investing in key infrastructure projects including:
- Extend the Armadale line to Byford, creating over 3000
- Midland Train Station upgrade and extension of Midland train line to Bellevue, creating 280
- Expanding the Mitchell Freeway to Romeo Rd, creating 875
- Extension of the Stephenson Avenue in the City of Stirling, creating 850
- A new 75 bed mental health unit at the Joondalup health campus, creating 2000
- Delivering the Leach Highway /Welshpool Road Intersection upgrade, creating 375
- $700 million commitment to build the Morley-Ellenbrook line, creating 9000 jobs
